E-brake replacement
I was driving my car recently and heard this nasty squeal and dragging noise. I put the car away in the garage until I could get back to it. Yesterday, I made some time and took the driver side wheel off and spun the axle by the lug nuts and found the noise, so I proceeded to take the rotor off and as the rotor was coming off, little chunks of material were falling out. Long story short, the e-brake linings had come off the shoe assembly and had wedged into spaces between the rotor and the shoe causing the nasty noises. The shoe and the rotor were undamaged, I have new shoes to put on, but needed some guidance. The passenger side seems to be fine as in no dragging noise as I spin the hub, and the rotor wouldn't come off. I have had some problems for awhile now with the e-brake hanging up and locking the driver side wheel up as I backed out of the garage or off the driveway, then I heard a clunk and nothing for a couple of days 'til it started with the dragging/squealing noise.

I used a long thin screwdriver with a grove filed in it to pop the spring over the shoe plate.
Theres a ZIP tie method that works very well. You install the zip-tie so that the teeth do NOT catch and you can remove it easily. You pull the zip-tie and pop the spring on the shoe.
Then just adjust the shoes so that there is a very SLIGHT drag on the drum. If you get the shoes too tight,,,it will get stuck on the shoes and you will end up pulling the shoes back out with the drum.
