lost 4th gear !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! drive it????????

Default lost 4th gear !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! drive it????????

Hey guys

slave cylinder was getting soft and i stripped 4th gear syncro and then it got stuck in 4th. luckily it popped backout and i finished the day with first second and third. track did not need 4th

think i can change the oil and get one more day out of it?

its prob the keys/dogs are broke for the 4th gear fork

Drain the fluid out of the trans and see what you find. Most of the metal particles will be caught by the 2 magnets but if you see silver metalic particles in the fluid, you will most likely need to open up the trans. Here is what happens when the keys/retaining spring goes out.

you cant get to magnets huh?

did your tranny work at all with that build up in it?

To get to the magnets you have to remove the tail shaft cover.

This trans didn't want to go into 5th (all 3 keys and springs was broken and stuck to the magnet). The trans needed $1,000 to repair but if this was caught earlier, he could have save some $$$.
