Some of the tuners on the forum do mail order tunes which I believe can be more customized to your car for less money than either brand. For instance, Doug at ECS does tuning by mail for $150. His reputation for his skill is excellent. Both of the handhelds run about $400. If you must pick one of them, from what I've read, the Diablo is more versatile and gives greater results. A year or two ago there was a comparison of all handheld brands in GM High Tech Performance magazine. That was my conclusion fromreading that article. Instead, I had Doug do my car in person. It runs great in every way and I have never needed anything readjusted.
have Chuck Cow do a custom mail order tune or have a local dyno tune.. Less money and much more horsepower than any programmer.. Programmers were neat when they first came out 15 years ago (before a PCM dyno tune).. A good dyno tune or mail order tune is far superior than any handheld.. double the horsepower at 1/2 the price.. Its a no brainer, plain and simple.. Its your money.. If you really want to pay $400 for 10 rwhp then the diablo would be the choice. I had a hypertech II before I sold my 99 c5. My buddy had the diablo and it offered more parameters than the hypertech II..

I like the "Chuck CoW" suggestion...and I think you will also.

Thank you!
OP, if your interested we would be happy to fill your tuning needs. We do many mail order tunes per week, and can taylor a tune for your direct needs at a reasonable price, still only $149 with return shipping. Turned around the same day recieved 99.9% of the time.
Here are some recent threads on our mail order tunes, thanks.

Although we can send you a hand held programmer with our tunes in it like the two mentioned, there is a fair amount of expense for something you should only have to use once. For the $149, we would need your PCM shipped here (removal instructions are on our site) and we can tune it and turn it back around to you the same day received. We can also overnight ship for the additional expense if necessary.
diablo..........
What if you need to put the car in the dealer? With diablo you just replace your stock tune,no problemo.
Alos,I heard that you may loose a custom tune with dead battery-but haven't verified this...

Since all you're doing is flashing the prom it wouldn't matter if it's the stock tune or a custom tune. A dead battery won't change a thing. A voltage surge could affect it but unlikely.
ECS has a mail order tune (send your computer and they send it back) for $150... way cheaper than any other vendor here and MILES better than a handheld.
FWIW, I had a Crane cams tuner on my old car, and it didn't make much of a difference... it was/is supposed to be better than both of your choices... then I got hptuners and had a friend (skilled) help me tune my car on the road.... amazing difference!
You can get most of that calibration from a mail order tune from cow or ecs.... but ecs has a better price.
i live in saudi arabia and i don't see it possible to send the ECU,, it might take weeks before it gets back,,
no good tuners can send me email tune files for predator?
