Default LS1 Hot Cam

Just starting to get into cams and all that fun stuff and got a hot cam and ls6 springs for $50 from a friend and was wondering if thats all i need for the install? I know I know that this is a mild cam and i should go bigger but for how i use the car and doing my first cam install and the price i got it at, im going to go with this. Anyone who can shed some light for me or anyone who has installed this cam.. please chim in. thanks

i did.. just found a bunch of bickering between guys who like the cam and guys who dont.. nothing really helpful. I have LS6 heads and intake as well as lg long tubes to go with the cam. I'm not looking to go crazy here. just a mild cam with a nice lope and some decent hp gains with a low budget is what im going for. also its my first heads/cam swap and ill eventually go with a bigger cam and afr heads and a fast intake.

Just a quick question. I know you said you doing it because you got it at a good deal, but why do and H/C swap and then do it again? Its twice the work. Just my thoughts. Me I like a rough idle. I run a MS3 237/242 .609 lift sounds crazy when it idles....Good luck with the swap. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions while your doing it.

ill eventually go with a bigger cam and heads and all that in a year or two if i decide to swap to a different motor. but for how i use the car.. i want to keep driveablility in mind and keep it easy on the drivetrain. its mostly a cruiser and i dont race the car put get into from time to time on the freeway and just miss having that cam lope. had a built camaro and miss the sound and power. with the cam, ported 243's, ls6 or 92mm intake, headers, tb, and tune i should be around 375-400rwhp and thats more than enough for what i need and is in my budget. im restoring a c3 so want to keep my budget aimed at that project but couldnt pass up this new cam with the ls6 springs for $50. and i might just be taking u up on that pm offer. was nervous to do my own heads/cam in my camaro so i farmed it out but now im really anxious to do my own. The camaro had a lg 224/228 g5x3.

The LG G5X3 is alot bigger than 224/228. It's closer to 236/242 or so.

Sounds like a plan. You might want to get the next FAST 92 you see. Ive been trying to find one for awhile. They quit making them and moved on to the 102mm. I have a TPIS 90mm TB sitting here with no way to use it. You should hit your power you want. Im at 413RWHP with full bolt ons, stock 241 heads, and the MS3 cam

for that ms3, did you have to use dual springs and hardened pushrods? whats the size of that your cam? Yea ive had some trouble locating a new fast 92 so i may just go with the 102 and the hardware i need for that intake.
