Default advice please--next mod on wishlist: cam

first of all, thank you to everyone who has provided insight with my new (97) car, I sincerely appreciate it! the new borla's are (hopefully soon) on their way. and mattg, I'm in talks with the bosslady about ordering the blackwing and tts's (she's hassling me over how much I've spent thus far, but it's all in the name of SAFETY! we'll end up SAVING $ in increased mileage and lower insurance! she doesn't buy it). the next item on the list is a cam. I thought about a head/cam package, but given the amount of driving I do (+/-400 miles per week), cost and pain of installing such a package, I've been advised to go with just the cam. I want more low-end punch, but I don't want my baby to turn into a "project" car, requiring constant maintenance. so question now is, what cam? I don't know enough about cars to understand all the technical specifications and measurements that accompany cams--don't they have regular names? your input would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Since no one else wants to make a suggestion I will. How about a B1 if you have an A4 and T1 if you have a MN6

I like the Thunderracing.com 220/220 114lsa. :yesnod: OliverM5 has it and seems to make good power on stock heads. 380rwhp

I just ordered the same cam for my A4. It was highly reccomended from everyone I asked. Should have a good idle for the A4 and coupled with the LPE LS6 heads it should make some good power...

I also don't know too much about cams, but I did learn that 112LSA usually means lopey idle and possible emmisions issues. I did not want that so I chose the 114LSA.

Do yourself a favor and talk to the professionals. Give a couple of forum vendors a call and ask their advice. I think you're in FL, so Mike Norris would be an excellent choice, to pick his brain. It doesn't matter if you're going to buy anything from him or not. He has a lot of experience in this area, and I have found he is more than happy to share his expertise. Just my .02!! :D
