Default Different head gaskets

I have a question about Head Gaskets I am installing a set of 243 heads I had CNC ported with over sized valves from Texas Speed. I ordered the head gaskets and bolts with the heads. The head gaskets they sent me are a layered metal type and are from GM part #12498544 I have seen pictures of some other LS1 head gaskets that seem to be a regular fiber type on the earlier ones. I was just wondering if it OK to run the new head gaskets. My car is a 2000. I am thinking that they just upgraded the head gaskets in the later years but I want to make sure before I bolt them on tomorrow. Thanks for any help you can give me.

The mls gaskets will work fine on your ls1. GM switched to the mls gaskets on the later ls1s and have been using them since in the ls motors.

Just be careful cleaning the surfaces and don't use metal to scrape. They should be clean enough to eat off of before re-installing.

And if you ever have to pull the heads again, the MLS gaskets leave much less to clean than the fiber gaskets.

Thanks got her all done. It took a long time to clean the block. I am glad G.M. changed the head gaskets it just takes to long to clean the gaskets off an aluminum block.
