True. For around $3500 he could have a cam, lt headers, cat back, and a CAI. So there are cheaper ways.

That's about what I've done to my car or in the process of doing. I'm still installing my heads. That was just an estimate. There's more to come, some stuff isn't mandatory, some stuff is or its just insurance:

- a new clutch and pressure plate $600
- slave cylinder $150
- adjustable clutch master cylinder (stock ones don't do so well on after market clutches)
- remote bleeder
- I cracked the plastic end tank and opted for a new Dewitts radiator
- ARP balancer bolt and Head bolts (optional, I just hate torque yield)
- roller rockers (this is debatable, you can find endless arguements about this one)
- new LS2 timing chain and LS7 lifters.

I want to install a set of drag radials and I also have a NOS kit ready to install as well.

It's just one part at a time, but I would do a heavier clutch when you do the diff. It just saves duplicating the time pulling the whole drive line down. It never ends, but this is what I do in my spare time. What else are you going to do? Yardwork?

How much power do you think an LS1 with the mods I've listed would make?

I looked on ebay and didn't see any used superchargers. I'm not sure how often they are for sale.

For $5200 I can get an A&A supercharger kit that supposedly will allow the LS1 to make 500 hp @ wheels.

It also requires a tune, so add in another $200 for a mail-in. I don't feel comfortable not knowing my IAT2 temps with a S/C, so I'd have to spend another $230 on a Aeroforce Intercepter scan gauge. Then I'd have to buy a boost gauge for about $40 and a gauge pod for $30.

total is $5700

That probably isn't a bad price for 500 hp, but I wonder what would happen to the drivetrain. How much power can a stock C5 drivetrain handle?

I guess another option is to drop in a LS376/480, but that costs $6500 before harnesses, reluctor wheel and who knows what else.

Has anybody found good sources for complete LS engines built for the C5? I've heard RPM-Motors-Inc.com sells custom motors, but I have no idea how much they cost.

Here is my mods/cost
MS3 cam kit-$650
Ebay Headers and X-Pipe-$475
Ported TB-$150
aFe CAI-$200
Borla Stingers-$550
B&M Shifter-$125
Tune-FREE (good friend in GA)
With the stock LS6 manifold and a ported TB I put down 413RWHP and 396RWTQ and I did all the installs myself. So for around two grand im over 400 to the wheels. Shop around on here and E-Bay and you will find some deals. I just bought a FAST 92mm Brand New for $725 and got a $500 TPIS 90mm TB for $250.

changing heads and cam will require you to get a tune. If you can not find a tuner then I suggest you purchase tuning software like HP Tuners and learn to tune.
