transmission problem

ok guys have a buddy with a C5 Z06 with a tranny issue... The trans up shifts and downshifts perfectly except 5th gear it blocks out when trying to shift into 5th gear.. all the others work great. Now when the car is just sitting still the trans will go right into gear and will pull from a stop. No matter what speed he tries it wont go into gear...everything is stock except a hurst shifter>>>>any ideas would be great. No whines,grinds,noises,leaks or anything..

Sounds like a shot syncro to me. Could even be worse.

I was thinking maybe the blocker ring? because if you put the car into 5th when sitting still it will take off and pull? could it be shifter alignment?
