Owned the vette for about a year, but today I was replacing a fuse in the passenger side fuse box for the first time.
When I opened the box, I noticed fuse 20 - the cruise control - was missing.
I am proud to say I've owned the car a year and never used the cruise, so I never noticed a problem. However, I probably will replace it if for no other reason than just proper upkeep.
However, the previous owner was a fanatic about this car and did everything himself. I'm thinking he removed it for a pretty good reason but when I searched the forum, I couldn't find much on this.
What else does that fuse control and why would he have removed it?
Also, what size fuse is it? Assume it's a 10 but owners manual doesn't say.
OK, see the size. I'm half blind and didn't look at the box cover. When I got my glasses and put it under the light, I saw the sizes.
However, why do you think that previous owner took it out?
I've read about a lot of electrical problems and people pulling fuses because of battery drains (something not cutting off like it should) but based on that schematic I don't see anything like that posted above I don't see anything like that.
I have to admit I haven't pulled the codes yet. Other than a pretty corroded positive battery cable and pretty corroded and stripped bolt (the one that attaches the cable to the Optima red-top battery) that caused the car not to start, I have't had a problem.

That being said, I hope you have pulled the battery tray, and inspected the PCM area...vacuum lines, etc. When the battery leaks, it all goes directly below.
No telling what the issue was with the cruise control. Guess there is one way to find out.....

Haven't pulled the batt - yet. But I plan to when the weather clears. When I do, I will install the matt. I've researched this forum and know exactly what's underneath that battery as well as those hoses. Also, haven't replaced the cable - just cleaned it up really well - but I plan on doing that as well. I have cleaned up really well around that battery area, neutralizing what drippage there was and scrubbing and rinsing everything around it - couple of times. You could eat off that engine now. But as you know, you can't see what's under there until you pull it.
One question I did have was would a poor connection at the post cause that
Red-Top to leak a slight bit? What leakage there was, was very minimal. I open that hood and check things out about every other day.
