ok, I am pulling out my hair over this one... since I have had my frc, it has had a noise in the rear that sounds like a bad bearing to me. At first, I noticed it changed when turning to the left, which led me to a bad left rear wheel hub bearing. After replacing it, I still have some noise, but now it is constant with the wheel speed, not changing when turning left to right.... I rescently replaced the clutch and went through the trans and rear diff. Since the rear end requires special tools, I took it to a local vette shop, and they charged me $500 to replace all bearings, seals, and the clutch packs. When I went through the trans, all of the bearings on the output shaft spun smooth and free. Some people say the hardtop cars are just noisy in the rear... is this true??? New tires too, no change...

meet up at biffs burgers on toperrwein rd behind the whataburger on friday 7ish and meet a bunch of vette guys. I am sure they can help you out.
Probably a different wheel bearing or the normal noise of run flats. How long have you had the car?
Could it be wind noise from the air box mod you did?
Model year 1999 did not have all that much masking for the rear tire noise compared to later years. If it is tire noise it will change with road types. Black top to concrete.
It seems to be the same on all pavements... I also dynamated all of the floor panels from behind the seats backto the tail lights, and layed dynaliner over the cargo area before the carpet went in. I also have a partition. Its like no matter what I still hear it!!!! I am going to take the car to the shop that did the rear and see what they hear....
I have what seems to be the same problem (if I understand your description). I hear a speed-proportional hum/buzz that seems to come from the rear of the vehicle. I just changed all 4 tires (previous & current sets non-run-flat), same noise. Haven't found anything rubbing against the tire/wheel, but I've only looked while on jack stands with the tires off the ground. At some point I'll try to make an audio recording and post it.
Sounds silly, but check the calipers/brake pads. If you've got a hung caliper, there could be enough room for a pad to vibrate or move around a bit. I saw a thread recently where a guy had this issue.
I have a 99FRC and have a noise sounds like its coming from the drivers side rear tire only at slow speeds and also sounds like a bearing or a bushing?? I recently replaced the calipers and the pads in the rear and didn't see anything rubbing... I feel your pain it pisses me off
JT has a good question . How long have you had this car?
I had three C5s ( two 2000 FRCes and a 2001 Z06). Recently traded one FRC. Point being comparrsion of the three . None of the cars are quiet.period. None of the cars have over 25,000 miles , all were one onwer Kalifornia cars . Recently Rattle trap went into the wife's FRC my Z06 and she & I have a two inch noise partition. Last fall Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 replaced the the OEM Z06 GD F1 Super Car off my Z06 on her FRC. Not much change in noises.
I also replaced OEM tires with BGF KDW2 and low speed noise did increase but was consistant ( tires make a difference but not right to left).
None of my C5es changed noise right to left. Hard to hear over the noisy clutch at low speed .
Tire wear pattern? Or ride height differences , side to side ? What's you odometer reading ( mileage).
