Default B0026 Code - Swapped Airbag - Please Help!

I just swapped my airbag with a leather covered custom one and cannot clear a B0026 code after install. This is the fourth steering wheel swap I've done; I've seen this once before and was able to rectify the problem by checking connections, reseating, and clearing DTC error message(s). I've gone back and double-checked everything and condition still exist. I am beginning to believe that there is something defective with this airbag (it was a bit scuffed on backside like it had a bit of age on it). My manual has been little help. Does anybody know of anything I may have missed? I don't want to send my 2004 core back if this one is bad - HELP!

What happens when you install the original air bag(your core) ?

That's a really good question and unfortunately one I cannot answer. I did not have the light stay on with my original airbag, although I did get this initial condition when I swapped my last steering wheel out. However, I was able to clear it when I reset the SDM codes on my DIC. Last night, I thought I had it, buttoned everything up and went to bed. The vendor needed the core pretty badly (due to a promise he made another customer planning to show his car) and agreed to send me a same year replacement airbag if I cannot get this resolved. I'm stepping out on a limb here and hoping that I don't need them to do that What I am looking for is something else to check or another means to clear voltage error which is what I assume is causing this. When I turn my ignition, it does run the diagnostics and flash seven times but does not go out What else can I do?

There isn't much you can do-check connections and fuses. I believe the TechII can run diags on the SRS system but swapping the old bag in would have been a good test.
