Never fails, warranty just ended, though I do have the extended with deductable. My passenger side window is stuck in the up position. Is there anything that I might check out before bringing to the dealer? Driver window works fine. This just happened over night.
Thanks, Jo Ann :)
That's happened to me! GO through the DIC and see what codes you have.
a u1016, u1064, u1096 is a loss of communication
Two thing can be done easily, one remove the window motor fuse and replace it, two disconnect the battery for ten minutes. Some time the system loss of communication, with the modules and things go into a safety mode were it woun't do anything.
This may or may not work, but it's worth a try!
Best of luck to ya!

Worth a try, but it is fairly common for the window motor to fail on the passenger side. If you can hear a click when you push the button, but nothing happens, then I would bet it's the motor.

I haven't seen one fail yet. But that doesn't mean they don't!
Maybe mine is going bad  .
I'll have to talk to the dealer and see if I can get an extra one just incase!
My passenger window has gone out 4 times and it's currently out right now. Needless to say, I'm sick and f*&king tired of having to have it fixed. Mine seems to go out 4-6 months after fixing it each time. I've gone almost a year this time without having it fixed. My warranty expires April 2, so I'll probably waste the time of having it fixed yet again.
Mine did the same thing.. It was stuck in the up position.. I hear the click when I tried to lower it but it would not move. I tried several times.. then i pressed down on the window while trying to lower with no success.
I was driving over a bumpy road and tried a few more times.. It worked!
I usually drive by myself and don't use that window much. I figure it got oxidized or something.. It is still working fine. I use it more often now and no problems..

Mine also got stuck....but in the DOWN position, and in the cold of winter! The DIC showed a loss of communication. I traced the problem to corrosion in the connector to the motor in the door. Once cleaned with some contact cleaner, it worked fine.
I suggest you check your DIC first. If there is no communication, then depending on the amount of your deductible and your appetite for removing the door panel yourself, decide if this is a dealer jo or a 1 hour driveway job.
I get the impression that the window motors on the Corvette's are no better then the ones on the F-bodies. I have replaced my Camaro's driver's window motor 3 times so far. I was hoping the Corvette had a better motor :(
I've posted this so many times, it should be in the FAQ....
While holding the window switch down, smack the inner door panel with the palm of your hand... to the top right of the speaker grill. It might take a few whacks, but will almost always free a stuck motor.
Yes, it is temporary until you can get the motor replaced. But, my temporary fix has been carrying me the last two years, so YMMV.
Only in America will you get sound advise like that, and have it truley work!
Reminds me of an old TV I had in my first apartment! :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:
Try opening and slamming the door somewhat rigorously several times. If that doesn't work, smack the inside door panel very hard with your hand while holding the button down. Sometimes just jarring the armature of the window motor very slightly will allow the motor to start running.
This has worked for others on this forum. Someone said it was a matter of disuse and that we should run the window up and down occassionally.
Good luck. Hope one of these home remedies works for you.

Since the failure of the window motors is a fairly common thing and since you are so close to still being in warranty, you might approach the dealership about allowing you a "good will" warranty. They may cover it. Or they may split the bill with you; especially if you are a good customer. It's worth asking about.
Update: Had an appt. sched. this morning for the window and wouldn't you know on the way there just for kicks I tried it and it worked! Go figure. I guess we will see how long until the next time it happens.
Thanks again for all the tips, I take back what I said in the previous post, all that door slamming worked!
This happen to me before. My passanger side window got stuck. I took my car in and they replace a sensor or some kind of module. They said, the motor was not the problem. After that, I had no problem. :seeya
The passenger window on my '99 is on its 3rd or 4th motor. I've lost track. There should be a TSB from GM on this because it's VERY frequent (my 2nd motor lasted 1 rolldown/up, just one night), but I don't think they've issued one. When I asked the mechanic what he thought the problem was, he answered, "Dunno. Maybe 'cause it's made in Taiwan?" I don't know if that was a joke or serious... I hope he was simply trying to add some levity to the situation.
