Well I sold my new toyo tqs so I could go down to a narrow drag radial to also run on my g8gt. I decided to go with the 285-40-18 which is about 27 tall. This way I can run a lower gear later on if something happens to my 342's. Hopefully I'll get to try them out on my g8 this week end at the track. I read an article in superchevy and the review was great when the tested it against the M/T drag radial on a low 11 second camaro. I'll let you guys know how the hook, my vet almost ready for the track and thought I'd get them broken in with my g8. I'm trying to get it in the 12's and the tires I've had on at the track the last couple times just won't hood. I ran 13.20 at 105 with it and spinning the hell out of the tires. Hope they work.
I will, my g8 also has irs although its 700 lbs heavier and 100 hp less at the rear wheels it still should be a good test for the nittos. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for sure.
Iced, what size did you choose? They are calling for rain this weekend so it may be a wash, but, I hope not. You can also keep us up to date on your testing.
Got mine mounted and balanced today. I'll test fit them tonight on my gt, I alreadly know they fit my vet as I mounted them on the same 18x9.5 black wheel. They should really hook I think. I'm going to just do 4-5 passes with my g8 Saturday and then in a couple weeks put them on the vet for it maiden trip down the strip. Man, can't wait as I have just a few things to do to it before it goes out the first time. I hope it runs 11.50, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Good luck on your spirited trip also. They look like they will definetly work.
I just received my rear Nitto NT555RII's to match my front RII's. I previously had R's on the rear but decided to switch to the II's. I won't be able to put them on until this snow goes away though!
Well put them on the vet today and man they hook, they ride pretty good as well. Then put them on the g8gt and man they hook really well on that car. I've got the loaded in my trunk and I'm taking the g8 to the track tomorrow and if they hook there like on the street its gonna be fun to drive. I'll update ya tomorrow night.
Well I'd say the dr's worked very well, my quickest time in my g8 before was 13.29 @ 105 and with the Nto5r's I ran 13.11 @ 107. My 60' times were still not good at 2.05, but, I think some of that was these tires are 1/2" taller then my stock tires and my g8 has a 2.92 gear in it and that in itself probably is hurting my 60's. Down track where I was spinning pretty hard in second gear the dr's solved that problem. My 1/8 mile times were over a .10th quicker also. If my car wasn't hitting the rev limiter at about 1000' I think it would have run high 12's. This will be a great tire for my vet and I'll find out in a couple weeks when I try them on the vet. If you've bought a set you'll be happy, I am.
