I have Corbeau A4 in my daily driver, and they are very comfortable on trips plus have good lateral support. If you are looking for a decent mix of driver and competition, they are a good choice.

This is the type of info you need. I have the Corbeau FX1 Pro and it's great for the track, but not something you want to do more than about 50 miles in on a trip. Look for the balance as Chevy406 said.

How long have you sat in them to make them uncomfortable? I've got an 8 day trip planned in the fall and thought about A4's. I think 3-4 hours and the stockers in my Z06 become a little too much on my lower back. Definitely feel it the next day.

I guess the longest trip I have taken is 7 hours. I didn't mind them at all. Here latetly for the past 3 weeks I have been having back problems and just the 1 hour commute to work gives me problems. But it is the same thing in my truck too. A lot also depends on your frame size too. I am 6'0" and 185 lbs. The A4s work well at my size, but there is obviously a limit. I understand that there is a wider A4 model also, but don't know if it works in the C5.
Have fun on your 8 day trip in a Corvette by the way. I am jealous.
Yea the car is my Daily driver. So I want something that will be able to keep me more secure, but are still comfortable to drive in over long distances.

Go over into the auto-cross and road race forum. Lots of seat discussion there.
Sparko, RaceTech, Momo, Kirkey, Ultra-Shield, and many more
, and I'll add.....Some racing seats are harder than others to get in and out of. If your car does a lot of street duty, choose wisely. If you are mainly a street guy, who hits the twisty roads a lot, get a harness bar, 6 point harness and use it with your pass through seats. The 6 point will hold you snugly, and the stock seat is easy to get in and out of. Do not get rid of the 3 point stock seatbelt, sometimes I use both the 3 point and the 6 point systems on the track. To hold me in the seat better, and for a lot more comfort, I re-used the stock seats with new skins and thicker padding from ECS. www.eastcoastsupercharging.com

No - my A4s don't have the optional lumbar support from Corbeau. They feel just fine even without it (to me at least). Also, I have been daily driving with them for roughly 10 months now, and they don't show any visable signs of wear or fade.
I run the A4's in my vert. I went with full leather and lumbar support. I've taken a few 4 hour trips and they're great. One thing, these are not for people with generous waistlines or very broad shoulders.

A4's here also. I have driven 6hours in one day and have been totally comfortable....or at least as corfortable as I can be driving 6 hours because I simply hate long drives.
Another A4 guy here. They are a good street/track choice. I've done several six hour trips with them. I don't have the lumbar support and wish i did. I end up rolling a towel and putting it behind my lower back. I'm six foot, 180 and fit fine but my b-in-law, who is a little bigger in the lower end, can't fit.

How much is "a little bigger"? I'm seriously considering these as I'm tired of bracing myself against the console and door with my knees when I go around even a moderate turn..
I have two Ultrashields that I used in my C5Z and now use in my C6Z. The driver's side is a 20 degree layback on Hardbar rails while the passenger side is a 10 degree layback on C5 manual seat rails. As with all Aluminum Race Seats you need to run a back brace to a solid point in the car like a roll or harness bar.
Here are some pictures of my driver's side seat. I usually switch them back and forth with the stock seats as the OEM belts do not work with race seats like this and the race belts are not street legal.

I'm a 34 inch waist and fit fine in the A4. My brother in-law is probably in the 38-40 inch range and says he's uncomfortable, seat is to narrow. But keep in mind, what one person finds comfortable another may object to. Best advice is to see if you can find another owner in your area who has them and try them out. Any race tracks out your way? A4s are a pretty common site at track events.
