So you are purposely using an oil filter that protrudes below the oil pan?

I wouldn't use it for that reason.........
I remember a post a while back, about a guy using one of the filters with the "NUT" formed into the bottom of the filter canister for easy removal. He was complaining about hitting it on something......

Factory size filter works fine, do you seriously want one of the lowest things on your car to be the oil filter? Is it going to give more protection for the engine when it gets ripped off by some road debris you hit??

If it is their regular Wix inventory item for a c5 it works great. Testing of this filter have had good results without the price associated with a premium oil filter. I buy mine at napa stores and it looks similiar to the oem item but the mfg is a upgrade over that oem filter.
I use either the PF44/46 (or Fleetguard's LF16104 ( Fleetguard's next upgrade lube filter . Largest OD 3.05", 4.58" Tall, 13/16-16 thread, ADBV). It is aproxx one (1) inch taller than the Delco PF 44/46 filter. I use Fleetguard products for my Cummins 8.3 .
