Went out to change the gear in the headlight, it's stripped but the headlight is in the down position. Manual lift isn't working of course due to the stripped gear.
The threads on the topic I can find don't address this. Options?
Maybe you can gently lift the headlight up with one hand while turning the motor with the other hand. This may enable you to get past the stripped/damaged part of the gear and allow you to get it up enough to remove the top and get to the headlight assembly.

Just a thought
I did try that to no avail. Appreciate the input though.
I don't mean to sound absurd but are you sure you are trying to turn the manual **** in the correct direction? Also you might not see any movement for the first bunch of turns but perhaps if you keep trying it will eventually get past the stripped part enough to raise a bit.
I know on mine, which have the brass gears already, when I raise or lower manually there are a number of turns/twists required before I will see the raising begin or the lowering stop?
I have been looking at my car where I have the headlight assemblies out of the car at the moment and I cannot see how you will be able to get to the motor if you cannot get the headlight to lift up at least a little bit.
Yeah, the write-ups say counter-clockwise for up. I tried for a long time since that's the only thing I know to try, lol. Most of the rotation is it just loose. About the last 1/8 of the circle it starts getting harder to turn but then no resistance the other 7/8's. Wash, rinse, repeat.
