Here is another argument against the phrase 'Torque wins Races'. Consider the 1977 Trans Am. Its 400ci engine was rated a pathetic 185 horsepower, but a semi-respectiable 325 ftlbs of torque. 1/4 mile times exceeded 16 seconds. (Seems to me some more HP would be in order) (Also think about those cars with Diesel engines...they have gobs of torque, but are not especially fast.)
