Default Having Computer Problems. I think.

Hi guys, I'm coming over from the C3 section and am in need of help once again. It's for my brother's '01 Z28. Is there a way to check if the ecm is burned or not? I need to check the computer on my brothers '01 Z28 because I think water got into it and fried it, but I'm not really sure. The car was working and all, until just the other day when my brother tried to turn it on one morning and nothing happened. Everything is connected and we made sure that gas was going up, and it is. The engine turned over, but doesn't start. I know it's not a Vette, but it's a . Thanks in advance.

So what's missing? Fuel? Spark?....both. Do you know for sure the injectors are firing? Have you tested the spark?

The spark is missing. We checked the fuel and the lines had fuel in them. The car was working perfectly fine two days ago. By the way, we installed an MS4 cam, prc stage 1 ls6 heads, ls7 lifters, double roller timing chain, headers, ported ls6 oil pump, and got it tuned. These parts have been in there for about a month and a half now. two days ago, when he was coming home from work, the cars oil pressure dropped to zero and cut off on him, but when he started it up again, it fired right up and the oil pressure went back to normal. The next morning he went and tried to start the car, and all it did was turn over, but doesn't want to start.

I'm going connect the scanner to it. Is there a way to check the crank sensor?

A GOOD scanner will show you the pulse count from the sensor. You can pull codes from the dash too.

Start with codes. If your scanner has the ability to read sensor in real time......it will show RPM.

Found the problem. It turned out to be an ignition switch problem. Thank God it wasn't the computer. That would've been an expensive fix since he would've had to get a replacement and get it tuned again.
