I had my local tyre shop fix a similar hole with a mushroom-shaped plug years ago only a couple of hours before my first track day. There was no problem on that or any other track day on those tyres. I separately tested them up to 175mph with no problems either. The tyres wore out before the plug did so I'd say don't worry about it - you might have the tyre re-balanced after the plug has been fitted if you really want to feel you've done everything to keep safe.
