Question about when these things break and how. Are the shafts breaking from too much power, or from wheel hop?

Any and all comments are appreciated!! THANKS

LH C6 Z06 output shaft: 89060119 $57.41

RH C6 Z06 output shaft: 89060120 $38.19
RH C6 Z06 Side gear: 19180962 $76.00
RH C6 Z06 Side gear retaining ring: 12458084 $5.46

2 Axle Seals: 88996703 $18.24/each
2 Side Cover O-Rings: 89047953 $21.22/each
You honestly should go with a DTE or RPM rear end with that HP. The shafts can break from both wheel hop and high HP.

Can anyone confirm that the C6 Zo6 LH output shaft will fit directly in on my C5? Just want to make sure I dont need to modify anything before I buy the C6 Zo6 output shaft. Any advice would be appreciated..

Thanks!

Yes the C6 Z left hand output shaft is a direct replacement for the C5 shaft.

if you ordered the parts you listed above, it is just bolt in and go... by replacing the shafts above and the clutch pack in the limited slip unit, you are not changing the pinion to ring gear tooth mesh...so no need to "dial in the gear" as you stated..

If you had replaced the pinion carrier, then Yes, you would have to check and adjust the ring and pinion clearances in the diff...

but is there any need to change out the clutch pack in a 42.000 miles driven diff, if i change out the washers (spring) only

the clutch pack is $110 each...

the only way to know 100% is to tear down the differential.... i had the long shaft break in my diff at the dragstrip with 60k miles... when i tore it down, there were no issues with the clutch pack or washers (springs) for the clutch pack, i did not replace the clutch pack, only the washers. the new washers were visually larger, and seemed to hold more pressure on the clutch pack (noticed during reassembly)

but that could be different on any car.... and yours might need to be replaced.

The dealer catalog shows the spring included with the clutch pack, but I don't know for certain if it is. It doesn't show the C5 srings individually at all, but I know for sure the C6 springs can be purchased seperately.
