good advice. Its a standard din unit what adapter kit will I need to mount the thing in the dash?
As "vet-it-b" said, a search in the audio section would be very helpful. I was going to change out mine, a few years ago, but after reading some of the posts there, I decided not to. It appears that GM, in recent years, has made it a point to integrate the radio's wiring into the car's circuitry to the point that an intricate and somewhat pricey wiring adapter is required, so the car's "bells and whistles" will continue to function.
It's no longer as simple the late 70s-early 80s, where all you were doing was adapting the OE power and speaker wire plugs to the aftermarket head unit....
About 3 years ago I replaced the stereo system in my 97 corvette. To get around the Bose system and its special speakers/wiring, I just re-wired the whole stereo system. It is a significant task, but not as bad as you would think. I re-wired the head unit to the fuse box and the amp to the battery. There isn't a lot of space behind the head unit, so I had to use right angle RCA connectors to the amp.
The install to replace the head unit and speakers was very easy! There is NO need for a wire harness! Power and ground are taken from a connector on the passenger footwell. Light is taken from the back of the hvac. Then run new speaker wire....thats it! For the front speakers you will need an adapter plate (can be purchased from a vendor) but I made my own. If you run an amp (i did) run a power wire to the battery through a grommet that is there (plenty of room for 4 gauge) and run a ground. The best thing to do at the same time is install some sound deadener. This job is very easy, straight forward, and a waste of money to have a shop install it. There are so many write-ups and pics on the forum on how to do this. Thats the great thing about the forum!

All depends on if you want to keep the factory speakers, keep retained accessory power working, etc.
