Hi Everyone,
I will be helping a friend with installing new headers and cats soon.
One of my conserns is the removal of the old header bolts. The car is an '04 C5 with 20k on the clock. Can I expect these to come out reasonably? I certainly do not want any to snap off. Any other comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Might be a good idea to get a can of PB blaster and spray the old bolts down a day or so before you attempt to take them out. When I did mine I didn't have any PB so I used WD40 and the bolts came right out.

I have done alot of ls header swaps and have never had a bolt break in the head. Even the 97-98 with higher milage should come out no problem. LT1s are another story though...
Thanks everyone, that makes me feel a lot better. I will use the PB Blaster on all the nuts and bolts way ahead of time! How about those little bolts holding on the secondary tubes? Do you think it's a good idea to get rid of them at this time?

Just use a 6 point 10mm socket on the air tube bolts and you will not have any problems. Getting rid of the air system makes the engine bay cleaner and makes plug swaps easier. You will not see a power difference from it though. I would get rid of it now while you have a choice with the headers.
