Well... i have a 2000 corvette convertible.... and well It has this annoying rattle that is driving me crazy. The rattle is coming from the front and it sounds like something loose (hitting metal to metal) or like my self (texan) calles it.. a rattle snake. It only does it when im accelerating from a complete stop or at low rpms after a certin RPM the noise goes away, but driving on freeways or at high speed an i gun it .. i dont hear the rattle. I have tried to hear the rattle when its on park or neutral (Reving it).. a rattle dosent hear. I havent jacked-up the car yet.. to inspect but how an the hell will i hear the rattle if i cant hear it when its on park or neutral (reving it) I have done research... I found only one thread that had some familiar but their werent to many comments.... an the other threads are usually rattles from the rear..
its the throwout bearing. its normal, and there is nothing to worry about. maybe someone can chime in describing why it rattles because i dont remember, and i dont feel like searching for it . i think pretty much every manual c5 does it.

Throwout bearing??? But mine is automatic.... which it may not make any difference or does it.
My friend had a similar sound and it was his cats going out. You still on the stock cats by chance? This was a C4 but just thought I'd throw it out there
I am having this same issue. I was just researching this and found your thread. My engine runs really strong but I noticed that when I am at WOT I hear a pinging sound. I thought about adding octane booster but when I got home I had my wife rev it up and I could hear the sound. It almost sounds like a loose exhaust clamp or something. Do you hear a high pitch whistle as well?
Yep, sounds like the infamous "exhaust jingle". There are two possible causes:
1) your exhaust hanger springs (next to the H-pipe) are loose.
2) OEM H-pipe is known to make this type of noise, don't ask me why.
I am still trying to resolve the problem with my own car. I might have to go with an x-pipe.
