when im cruising on the highway at 70mph in 6th(about 1500rpm), i can give it about half throttle and the rpms will jump up and the car will kinda "vibrate" but the car is not accelerating.
ive tried lugging the motor around 1rpm and mashing the throttle and it will slowly accelerate withou any slipping, it started slipping once out of the 10 times ive tried it.
i can rip through 1-3 without any problems
i dont know what clutch it has, all i know is that i could see a blue pressure plate from underneath the car.
**update**
at 40mph and 1400rpm it will also do it. i let it slip for about 5seconds and let off the gas. when i put my foot on the clutch there was nothing there. i pumped the pedal a couple times and kept going.
so im guessing my clutch is on its way out.... or is there another reason my clutch would be doing this?

Put it in 5th gear at a stop, then attempt to drive it if it stalls then your clutch should be ok, if the engine starts to rev and doesn't stall, then guess what???? Time for new clutch........
just went out and did it in my driveway... it stalled
being that the pressure plate is blue, im guessing that its a spec clutch and after researching for new clutch is see that they need shimmed. my clutch engages within the last 2 inches of the pedal all the way up so its possible it is shimmed wong and my clutch is slipping because its not fully engaging?
is the shim something that can be easily swapped out or does half the car need to come apart?
Thats an easy question to answer.. your clutch is bad.. if the motor is spooling up but the speed isnt, its the clutch. No ifs ands or butts, you see it starting to slip in the upper gears first
I tried what the OP had in the OP this AM on the highway-I was in 6th at 70ish. As I gave it gas (in 6th gear) the rpm's barely moved on the tach no slipping or vibration.
One thing I have noticed since I've owned this car is that after awhile in 6th, after you return to normal steet traffic-the clutch seems a little different on initial engagement-I seem to have to ease it out just a little slower on takeoff (for a smooth takeoff) or it "chatters" a little.

The chatter is pretty normal if it's a puck style disc.
