Default Bellhousing removal with engine in car?

Any tips on removing the 5 bolts (3 look easy, but the other 2 look like they will be a pain), and getting the bellhousing out? Looks like a pretty tight fit.

Thanks,

Jason

Obviously the torque tube is out of the way at this point. Get a long extension and a good swivel socket, not a swivel adapter but a socket. I think it is a 13mm. The top bolts are hard but not impossible. You can also jack up on teh fornt of the engine to buy you a little more room for reaching the bolts and squeezing teh bellhousing out.

I always remove the bellhousing when doing a clutch, I find it easier.

yes, you just need an extension and a good small/short pivot end, they are tricky but can be done.

Got it out, what a pain.

Now I need to find a machine shop to match balance my new clutch, as the old one had one weight in it.

Thanks,

Jason

I am at this point in my clutch install also... Havent yet tried to pull it out, but the top bolts look like a bear...

It was suggested to me to lower the front cradle a little to make it easier to get to the bolts.... I am wondering if i can just lower the rear of the motor down a bit more - as i am not that close to the firewall yet.

Why are you removing the bell housing just to change the clutch?

sounded easier to remove this, then having to deal with turning the engine over by hand to properly torque down the clutch.

Do you not believe this is the case?

No, I don't. Remove the spark plugs, and the engine is easy to turn with a flywheel tool. If you don't want to dick with #7&8, then just remove 1-6. Piece of cake.

Figured i had a few extra days before all the parts arrived - so had some time to kill....

I did order a flywheel tool... thought this may come in handy, so i will try that method.

Thanks,

John

I removed the BH b/c I am installing a dual disc setup, and it seemed a lot easier this way.

Tore down my torque tube last night, and with 55,000 miles on it, the couplers were mint. Glad I bought the car from an older guy.
