whats up guys i have a 2002 z06 , so far i have a vararam vrb2 and a tune , i want to do my exhaust next but only have enough to do one thing , 1000$ roughly , im lookin at lg longtubes or slp loud mouth +gutted cats , i want an agressive tone what do you guys think?
ps retunes at my shop are free.
A set of longtubes with an x pipe would give you more power than just a catback and gutting the stock cats. Long tubes, catless x pipe, and the stock Ti catback makes for a very nice sounding exhaust.
I'd go with long tubes and X-pipe. Since you have a Z06, you (presumably) have the stock Z06 catback, which is very good as it is; it is hard to beat and any aftermarket catback will give little, if any additional power but will change the tone of course. If you're after power, your money is better spent elsewhere; such as long tubes. My Z06 has a vararam, LG long tubes and X pipe, stock catbacks, and a tune and sounds MUCH better than stock. Still sounds like a Z06 but throatier and a little louder as well. It's ideal for me; I have no intentions of ever swapping out the stock catbacks.
edit: I just re-read your post... sounds like you're more after the exhaust tone than power. That may shift your attention more towards catbacks. It depends on how you want to balance power vs. sound.
