Default Broken HVAC Vent Louver

Been looking around for info but havent come up with much.

The vent louver on the passenger side left is broken and I'd like to replace. I have the service manual but was wanting to see if anyone has done this remove/replace that might have some tips.

Default maybe this will help?

There are a several threads dealing with re-indexing the actuators that control the vanes that direct the air to the vents. I'm assuming that's what you are referring to when you say louvers. There is a write-up with pictures that might help you.

I dont think you are going to find very much in the service manual... one suggestion would be to contact" That Great Man " Gene Culley..see if he can isolate that part and get the cost.. if its not too expensive I would get it and then look at what and how it connects to the dash... maybe Gene can see what other componets are part of that part, like maybe a holding ring etc.. once you see the good part, figuring out how i'ts attach should be easier. I cant see it being more that 20/25 dollars. Things like this are a real enjoyable challenge for me.

Nope. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out to see if there is any info there I can use.

I am referring to the actual vanes on the vent that is just under the dash pad. So when I move the vent to redirect air around the cabin one of the vetnt louvers is broken and looks pretty tacky.

I suppose I could super-glue but that is still pretty tacky.

I was hoping to avoid messing with the dash pad. Maybe going thru the glove box and pull the vent from behind.

To replace the lovers you have to remove the entire dash, remove the louvers and then replace with new and replace the dash. That is if you can find the louvers. My dealership says that most of the parts for the 2000 corvette are no longer being made and most dealers as well as the warehouses do not have the parts anymore. I have been trying to get the louvers for passenger and center for many months. No luck.

I did some checking last night and sent Gene Culley an e-mail, so we'll see what happens. I also noticed a dash pad for auction and it had the vents in the pad. They might only come with the pad. That would stink, superglue to the rescue??

I have thought about super glue also but have not gone there yet. Good luck. I decided they were not as important as actually getting the hvac to work correctly right now.

Well I got the final answer on the vent if you want a new. Gene Cully says it is no longer available from GM. Done, Gene is the man on parts.

I'm headed over to the parts cars section, lets see what we can find. Thanks all for the inputs!
