Default Thank You

Just a word of thanks to all you "techies" out there who take time to help guys like me that aren't so knowledgeable.

This past weekend we were headed to TN in our '97. I had just glanced down at the gas gauge and saw we had just under a half tank of fuel. Within seconds, the "check gauges" light came on and the "Low Fuel" warning was lit - not only that - the gas gauge was now pegged on EMPTY!

I took a deep breath and thought, "Okay, something other than no fuel is going on here." Without panicking I pulled over at the nearest station and just put 3 gallons of fuel in the tank. When I got back in and started it up, the gauge read well over half a tank. My wife was concerned, but I told her as soon as we got to our destination, I'd look on line and was certain I would find and answer for what just happened. Sure enough I did!

With a quick forum search I found the issue regarding sulfur that often clogs the fuel system. The "cure" was a can of Techron Plus or Seafoam. I chose the Techron Plus.

The problem did not occur on our way home and I feel certain it may not again.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who shares their experiences and expertise. For this Vette owner it is much appreciated.

I'm glad things worked out for you, but, unless you regularly use Techron my bet would be on it will happen again. I add a container about every 3000 miles.

Not a problem there... I have 6 bottles sitting in the garage now!

Just so you know....If you have a Texaco near you, their gas has Techron in it already. That will also help!

Also....try Shell 93 V-power. It also runs excellent in my 'vert!

You're very fortunate to live in this computer age where the entire world is tied togather, I'm a retired mechanic 40 years exp. and the forum is my friend as is yours when I was starting out NOBODY shared info.,your entire world was 10 to 20 square miles, when racing the guy next to you is not gonna tell you why he's fast cause next week you are gonna beat him, mechanics wouldn't tell you a thing cause you might take their job. Yes as you recognize the forum is a cornucopia of knowledge and I too thank all who take their time to help the uninformed.I KNOW what you get here cannot be bought anywhere as much knowledge I have accumulated over my many years banging wrenches I still learn many things from the forum.I would like to acknowledge our moderatorswho keep the forum pure and not allow it to be tarnished and keep it true to what is was intended to be. THE FORUM IS YOUR FRIEND

What's really great here is the help we get from members who have actually confronted a problem and come up with a real life solution.
