Red79EB02:

The oil pressure at idle will vary dependent upon the Viscosity Grade of oil you have in the crankcase (SAE 5W-30 vs 10W-40), the temperature of the oil (cold oil will have a higher pressure) and the idle speed.

On a 60 degree morning, and 10W-30 Mobil 1 in the crankcase, my oil pressure at idle is about the same as yours. The psi that you have seen in quite normal for the LS1 engine. Happy Motoring :)

Oil pressure when cold (58 degree) 41 psi and 30 psi when hot (210 degree)
I run 10W40 viscosity

Higher when she's cold, of course. When she first starts up (warm garage) at idle the pressure is about 45 or so. Once she's at 192, oil pressure at 1700rpm rolling down the road is straight up at 40. She'll drop to 30-32, fully warmed up and sitting at an idle (MN6) at 800 rpm.

I noticed this also on my 2000. With the oil warmed up to normal temp. the guage reads between 32 and 38 at idle. My 98 SS warmed up oil temp nevers falls below 40 psi. at idle. Both cars use 5W-30 Mobile 1.

Both cars cold will run at 45 psi. :chevy

My M6 usually sits at 40Psi at idle when fully warmed up. When I had my 99 A4 - it would sit around 20Psi when fully warmed up.
