Anyone ever see this? I had traced all the cables previously and everything looked good so I replaced the module. And of course, more no comm. No TCS codes at all, just nothin'
Anyone seen this before? If so, what was the remedy?
I have seen it before. I also has loss of communication with everything. At first I though my door wiring was screwed up cause they were. Then the steering wheel position sensor gave up completely.
Checked for power at the module: good
Checked grounds: good
CHecked for shorts on those: none found
Checked the serial data line back to the star connector: good
cleaned the ignition switch
No other NO COMM, but I do have some U series DTCs:
SDM: U1000H/U1040HC
RFA: U1000H/U1064H
Whats whacky is that I somehow managed to get the TCS to come alive today, spit out codes (didn't record them). I put everything back together and I'm back to NO COMM on the tcs.
I tested the two underhood, forgot the STP HAZ in the IP fuse block. That was good, and I pulled the star connector again, and verified that was ok. Turned the key on and still No Comm. Then for some reason I decided to pull the BCM out of its mount (as the TCS worked with the BCM out of the mount before). I unplugged the pigtail for the V1/Accusump to make it easier to get out, and the TCS came back.
Gooofy. Of course, as soon as I fired the car up the TCS disabled itself and called out a C1218HC. The battery was weak at this point, so I decided to go for a drive and be happy that the EBCM was communicating at all.
Got home, pulled codes and the C was gone, so I cycled the ignition and I had ABS again. YAY. Went out and test drove it, got into the ABS, verified traction/stability control worked (yay for bald tires in the rain).
Thanks for the help, your posts led the way to fixing this thing.
and the C1218 is back. I can get it to go away once the car has been driven a bit, but I tested the ABS by standing on the brakes and it immediately lit up the dash and said the ABS was out.
Bill, do you think its the EBCM or the BPMV? I'll recheck the ground again (for the forth time), and all the connectors, but man this sucks.
Oh, and some damned mouse managed to chew on my #5 injector wire so I'll have to split the harness to fix that one of these days.

I didn't quite understand what exactly you did to clear the "28-tcs no comm" I am plauged with this code that is making my ABS and Traction control lights be on.
Had an inconsistent ground - fixed. Replaced the BPMV, also - this is weird - the power steering pump. That had a leak and was misting the abs connector with fluid. Cleaned that thing out wight he new pump and it was back.
