Default Engine power loss/oil pressure stuck high

Today I tried to start the car to drive to my local watering hole, but the car would only barely maintain idle without dying. I could rev the engine to a fairly high RPM or slowly let off the clutch, but the engine would die. It resembled my gas-powered weed wacker with the choke on, but I don't know how to correlate that with my V8. After sputtering a few yards past my driveway and trying to limp back, it finally started behaving normally with normal power. The only other thing I noticed when the anomaly was occurring was the DIC message "Service Steering Column Lock" or similar - I installed the column lock bypass when I first got the car in '05! Message went away when the car started working.

My first suspicion is the electrical system - namely, the grounds I keep putting off cleaning. I also have an oil pressure gauge stuck at 129-130 psi....related?

Sounds like the fuel cut from column lock issue. If the engine runs and revs fine until you try to move, that's it.

Doesn't matter if you have a bypass. If the car thinks the column is locked...

Oil pressure is also a common issue.

The peggd oil could be the sending unit has gone bad.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too...are they pricey? I'll Google it now.

I don't understand the drive-ability issues but the pegged oil pressure is most likely the sending unit.. A relatively easy fix...
