I have the original Good Year run flat tires on my 2001 convertible. I want to replace them Good Year Eagle F1 all season tires. 245/45 ZR17 in front and 275/40 ZR18 in the rear. Did anyone purchase these tires and are they happy with them. Would these tires effect the onboard tire pressure sensor.
Do you live in a cold area? Is that why you are considering all-season? Installing non-runflats will not affect the tire pressure sensors. I've been running GSD3s for almost 6 years now.
Yes I do live in a cold weather climate, but for the most part do not drive the car in the winter. I choose the Eagle F1s to save a few dollars, but if they are not going to perform well then I'll go with the GSD3s.
As a general rule of thumb, all-season tires will not handle as well as Summer tires, all other things being equal. Likewise, runflats will not handle as well as non-runflats. A runflat tire will typically weigh at least 6 lbs more than a non-runflat tire. The GSD3s are incredible tires, although some forum members have reported that Goodyear will stop making them. If this is true, that is a real shame, as they have been nothing but phenomenal.
If you are looking to save some money on tires, check out this comparison article by car & Driver magazine and then see which ones are available in your tire sizes. The BF Goodrich KDW-2s are much better on wet surfaces than the KDWs but they are a bit noisier.
If staying with the stock sizes I would go with the Michelin Pilot Sport As Plus ZP. I had the until I went to larger wheels and tires and was very happy with them. I got 55,000 miles out of the fronts! They rode and handled great in all kinds of weather and conditions. I'd comment on noise but with LT headers, high flow cats and B&B Bullets I don't really hear much else.
