I believe I heard that as newer models become available of the V1 you can exchange it and a few bucks for the latest model?! Am I smoking something or is that true?
I have no idea what you're smoking (but I want some too). I sure that is probably true for the V-1 because the Passport 8500's can be reprogrammed with updates as well.

What you heard is true. I have one I highly recommend them for all the aforementioned reasons. If you have one you go to their website, type in the 10 digit serial number and a reply will evaluate your model and suggest upgrading or in my case advised against (not cost effective) upgrading. If you do decide to upgrade you simply send in your old unit and they send you a brand new one with a new warranty for usually half the original price. :smash:

I almost bought an 8500 for the better advance KA warning. But then, my V-1 is mounted behind the mirror with the remote viewer (or whatever it's called) mounted by the guages. You can't do that with the 8500 (I don't think) and I like the arrows. I've had mine since '94 and I've bought them for my wife and son. So far, I'm the only one with tickets. I have one more traffic school option left (you get 5 in FL), then I'm on my own:D

Remember you get what you pay for. My V1 was the very first thing I got after getting my Vette. It's had to have paid for itself at least a half a dozen times.....probably even more..

Thanks for all the comments. It sounds like the V1 and Passport 8500 are both great units. :smash:
