JW,

You took the Belangers off of your yellow head and cam car correct? Since my car is just a stock 02' Z06, I souldn't expect to see an 11rwhp 5rwtq gain from the LG's and the Belangers? Also, Did you compair the dyno of the Belangers with the cats off vs. the LG's with the cats off. Or, the Belangers with stock cats vs. the LG's w/o cats.

Just trying to get the best bang for the buck. I am buying headers next week and I need to choose between the Belangers or LG's. I don't plan on putting heads and cams on my car.

Thanks.

The dyno comparison was done with no cats on either. Yes, this was done on my yellow vert with H/C.

I just want to point out that the biggest gains that we saw on JW's car and Randy Goss' car, was with the "Merge Collectors. the production collectors are just that, production. Don't get me wrong, the production headers/collectors are good, but not as good as the"Merge" system.
We are still experimenting with a couple of different designs for the production collectors. We hope to get closer to the merge system.

Thanks,

Lou Gigliotti http://www.lgmotorsports.com
Lou- Do you want to experiment with a basically light modded C-5; intake (Donaldson) and exhaust (PRT's) ?

I was finally able to dyno my car after installing Bellenger Headers and allowing some time for a pcm relearn. The results were a little disapointing. Before Bellengers the car dynoed 330.9 RWHP and 348.5 RWTQ. After 341.1 RWHP and 353.5 RWTQ. So my net gain was only 10.2 RWHP and 5 RWTQ. My biggest surprise was the TQ number, I expected a bigger gain in the TQ area vs HP gain. Any one else have before and after dyno numbers from header installs ? Now I'd like to know if other manufactuer's (TTS, TPIS, etc) numbers are similar, better or worse. The good news is those are pretty good numbers for a stock LS1, with just bolt on mods !

I would have expected more torque with anyones longtubes. Same conditions as the last time you dynoed, I assume? Same dyno?

That GMS worried me too, did you get to measure your a/f ratio both times?

You would definitely have to adjust fuel mixture with any header install. I would suspect that you are running fairly lean. PCM relearn will not correct this.

Yes same dyno, same conditions. Brand new dynojet..latest thing out there. Air Fuel ratios were also measured on all runs, and the lines were real close to each other. About 14 at 2500rpm, and around 12 at 5500 tp 6000 rpm. The Air/Fuel line was slightly higher with the headers installed.

Hmmmm 10HP and a parts and labor cost of about $1500 equals $150/HP. I wouldn't bee too happy either. I know a few others who have gotten low dyno numbers with the TTS headers too. Does the car feel faster than the 10HP though? Any sotp difference? Coul dbe a dyno problem or some other variable.

My car is a 2001 Coupe, 6spd, Z51, with a Donaldson Blackwing, GMS MAF, BP Powerduct, Belanger Headers, Corsa X-pipe and Exhaust. Dynojet'ed at 341.1 RWHP and 353.8 RWTQ. I don't have Belanger's number, but I know it's in the 623 area code of Phoenix, AZ.

Maybe it is not just the A/F ratio. Maybe it is the timing?? Vetter has them on his head and cam car and he is making 447rwhp. They can't be that bad  . I have a set that I haven't installed yet. But, I am putting them on a 02' Z06. I will let you know my results.

Did the installer have any ideas of how to tune you up for a little more? Do they have cpapbility to tune on the dyno? That would be your best bet, I think.

I'm guessing if you went for the Belangers you are after more than just peak numbers. Can you post your dyno graph? I'm curious about your gains off peak. Also remember that the later year cars have less room for improvement than the earlier years since the stock manifolding is already better.

Sorry I don't have the technology to post the dyno chart. But I will tell ya that throughout the rpm band, the line with the headers is slightly above or on the baseline. Yes certainly it appears the stock manifolds do a pretty good job, but I also figured I would get some gains from removing the pre-cats, since I have a 2001. Oh well, they do look and sound cool.

Ok, after reviewing a more detailed plot...the HP and TQ line with the headers is above the baseline throughout the entire rpm range. The biggest HP (10.2) gain occurs at approx 5225 rpm and the biggest TQ (5.0) gain occurs at approx 3000 rpm, with another big gap at 5225rpm. Brand new dynojet 248.

Can this shop tune a 2001 LS1 on the dyno? I'd bet you'd benefit by maximizing what you have.

I agree. I think you can tune a few more ponies out of her. :)
