Default Ls1 swap

I will be changing out the engine from my 2000FRC very soon to a complete new LS1 purchased from GM. Can anyone recommend the BEST shop / mechanic to do the swap in the Bay Area? The original engine has 27,000 miles and I guess I will be selling that once the swap is complete. Thanks for any and all advice!

Not familiar with your area just wondering why you are pulling a 27k engine for another ls1 or are you getting a ls6?

I have been thinking about an LS6 and was just out pricing both of them.

If you swap out your LS1 for a new LS1 after 27K miles you will see no difference. Unless of course there are problems with your LS1.

LS1 is good for at least 150k. Why are you looking to swap it?

Why, it doesn't hurt anything. Swapping pistons would solve the annoyance.

I feel for you. When I was looking I test drove several cars with piston slap and could not have put up with it. Most of the reviews claimed a decrease in value of 15 to 25 percent. For me it was 100 percent.

I don't think I'd replace it with another LS1 though. For just a few dollars more you can get the LS6 and it's pretty much a drop in.

For a little more can go with the LS3 with GM hot cam from GM performance. Need the reluctor wheel electronic converter but a good place should be able to put it in for you.

There are several vendors here that have the LS6 minus the manifold and accessories for about $3500 delivered.

I've looked into that but will be going with a complete LS6 from gmperformance and not the long block.

Now, that being said, Richie can probably get you the best local deal on your new motor and his dealership can probably install it for less than any local tuner. Dropping in a new LS1 or LS6 is childs play for a dealership like his.

I could see it if you were installing a LS6 but if not, why bother?
