differences between lq9 and lq4 heads?

differences between lq9 and lq4 heads?

what are the differences? I want to put a set on my car to lower compression to 9.5:1 or so but dont know if both will do the same thing or not.

You want 317 casting heads. Lq4 and Lq9 engines both came with 317 heads except for 2000 Lq4's that had iron heads.

Yep. 317's are the same as 243's except for the valves (317s have solid stainless rather than hollow and sodium filled).

or a set of 035 heads are the same as 317's. It has been said they are cast a little better (035) than the 317's but I have not seen anything that different.

Not true. Not all 243s have lightweight valves, only the ones on LS6 engines. The 243s off of LS2s (Vettes, GTO, Trailblazer SS) and Silverado 5.3Ls have regular heavy valves.

The 317s also have a larger combustion chamber than 243s.

317s and 243s are supposed to have the same 210cc intake port and "D" shaped exhaust port.

243s and 799s are the same.

317s come on both LQ4s and LQ9s, there is no differnce between them.
