Tires run flat or non run flat
Time for new tires thinking of going with non run flats wondering how many people have done so and are happy they did go with non run flats.
What brand and what improvements over run flat tires?
What about when and if you get a flat what do you do?
I also heard when a flat happens you damage TPM true or false?

I went with non runflats. Noticed a softer/smoother ride because the sidewalls arent rock hard anymore so you feel less bumps from the road. I went with nitto 555 extremes and am pretty happy with them.

They have a 300 treadwear rating so they will last a little longer, but still decent grip.
If I get a flat I will be calling for a tow, roadside assistance doesnt cost much to add to your insurance, or get a triple A membership.
Not sure about damage to the TPM sensor with a flat, but I would probably just look for a used one if I had to replace one. If you were that worried about it you could get a spare sensor to put in the glove box so you don't have to worry about locating a sensor when a flat happens.

I went to Hankooks from discount tire, but they sell just about everything. If you call, dial into extension 51839, you'll get Ray. He made me a great deal and service was excellent. Don't fear the NON run flats. Better traction, quieter, better feel.

I switched to non run-flat Goodyear Eagle F1 DS G3's over a year ago. They're just as noisy as the run-flats but otherwise superior in every way-steering response, cornering, braking, even the ride is much smoother. The vette is really a comfortable car once you junk those runflats. They work great on the track too. Very predictable at the limit.

Another thing. Get a compact air compressor and a can of Slime for about $30. It'll probably get you 50 miles for a minor puncture. Make sure your AAA is paid up.

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
I've had both and I just like the peace of mind of run flats.

I'm pretty sure the majority of people get rid of teh run flats. They don't grip, they are extremely expensive, and they add a lot of rotating mass which will make acceleration slower.
I've heard of people running Nitto Invos, nitto 555r extreme, fire stone firehawk. Personally I have good year eagle f1s all-season(came on the car when I for it) They are pretty good in the rain but they are pretty hard as far as tread wear so I can slide around all day and not take off any rubber
It really depends what kind of driving you intend to do

BF Goodrich G-Force Sport 340AAA rating, grip like glue and for about $150 each for stock size. At that price, you can save enough over the runflats to buy 2 replacements with rims and sensors if your luck is that bad

Used rims are pretty cheap, I keep two sets (besides my track setup). I toss on run flats for long runs and keep my non run flats for my everyday use. Just piece of mind.
Big difference in the ride and noise, but I don't worry about getting stuck out in out in the sticks...

Melting Slicks
Non run flats, but, don't use slime as it will ruin the Tpms sensor. Buy a plug kit when you buy the little compressor that plugs into your lighter. I see this all the time when mycustomers use the slime or fix a flat and that will set you back at least $75.

Everyone with a Z06 drives without runflats. They don't seem to have too many complaints.
I've been driving mine for 4 years without them. I've had the Nitto 555's and Hankook Ventus. Both were great. I keep a plug kit and compressor in the rear as insurance. I've had to use it once, and my total down time was 10 minutes once the TPS detected the low pressure from a nail in my rear tire.

Goodyear has discontinued the stock C5 and Z06 sizes of this tire unfortunately. I have no idea why. Even so, I doubt I'll ever go back to hard noisy low grip runflats. When I get a flat, I just call AAA.

I have a low miles 97 with the original run flats still on it. I hate the ride and the noise, but have been putting off spending the money to replace the still "good" runflats. Well I'm going in tomorrow for a set of Hankook Ventus from Discount Tire. $707 out the door with an additional $50 off with the rebate. I'll report on the difference. I'm looking for some change in the harsh ride and road noise.

Love my G-Force Sports... 23M and see hardly any wear. They hook up real well at the strip too.
