my 98s been in storage since nov and i would start it off and on to keep the battery chgd,somehow the battery died so now i go out and jump it and it starts right off but the key fob wont work.i was told that i have to go to the chevy dealer to have my key reprogrammed is this true or is there an easier way i.e cheaper

I suggest that you get yourself a battery tender before next Fall. As to the fob question, check your owner's manual. If I recall correctly, you should be able to do the relearning yourself.

Battery tender is the way to go. Starting the car takes more out of the battery than the alternator has time to replace if you don't drive it. Use caution jump starting, modules don't like spikes of current. Good luck!
