I have a 1999 that the oil pressure reads max 80 psi, and the computer says 130psi. After research some say a PCV and some say oil pressure sensor. Has anyone been down this road before?
The way to check if it is the oil sensor (or a short in the wires) is to turn the ignition on with the engine off, if any oil pressure registers, it is the sensor or a short in the wires. There should be NO oil pressure with the engine not running.
Good luck, make sure you use proper torque and clean all the oil off of the connector.
It worked!!!!!! I went to O'reilly.... they had the $38.00 sensor in stock. And now I got your standard 45 psi on the gauge and the computer. Awesome. Thanks for the info.
Well I am pretty much a perfectionist.........by no means am I a mechanic. It would have taken about an hour. But when I got in there I saw some emission hoses that were rotting, so I stopped and went to the auto store to get some parts. Then the day was so nice..........I bought some brake cleaner and cleaned out all the intake holes that had crap all in them. All in all it took about three hours, but I was lolli-gaggin the whole way.
