Default rear wheel stud install help - where to drill?

Ok, I have searched the forum and cant find any pictures on how and where to drill through the back plate for stud installation in removal? Could someone point me to the right direction here? All i did was remove the caliper, do i need to remove anything else before drilling? Here is a pic of my rear hub could someone tell me where i need to drill the hole? Just edit my picture in paint with an arrow pointing to where i need to drill?! Thanks!!!

Not quite sure what you are asking, its pretty self explanatory, you would drill the stud out that is broken. By looking at your picture, its even hard to tell which one it is that may be broken or stripped. The only one that looks odd is the one on the top. I am not too familiar with these specific studs as I have not done one, but there are quite a few that are pound out/pull in, meaning you would smack this one out from the front, and pull the new one through with a lugnut with an open top. You will be able to tell instantly once you have the new one if it is that style. I personally would heat it up a bit to help it go through easier. I may be wrong on this though, as like I said, i have not done a c5, but many many other vehicles.

The studs are a press fit you will need to remove the wheel hub and either beat them out with a hammer or press it out with heavy duty "C" clamp off set from the back of the stud. To install the new one you use a few washers as spacers and nut.

The repair manual say to us J-6627-A which has a forked back for the stud to pass through. I'm sure we all have one of these in our tool chest, yeah right.

well i was reading up on the forum that you can drill through the parking break back plate to pull the studs out without having to pull the hub.. i drilled a hole and was able to get the old studs out but no way could i put my new arp 2.5" studs in so i ended up pulling the wheel hub out..

Pulling the hub isn't that bad of a job as I'm sure you now know. In my opinion pulling the hub and pressing out the studs is the safe way compared to using a hammer and ponding them out. There is a high risk of damaging the hub bearings using the hammer process.

Hope the replacement goes well for you.

I'm going to replace a rear stud using the backing plate drill method, but I couldn't find any pics either. In the pic below, I indicated where I think I need to drill based on what I've read (kinda hard to see, sorry) - below the e-brake mount. Can anyone let me know if this is correct or not? That's the back of the LR wheel.

When I had mine off, I could not find any place that looked like it would work. Just installed the ARPs and am done with it. Hope I never have to install longer ones .

I'd just remove the wheel bearing/hub (it's 3 torx headed bolts I believe) and press them out/in. Seems you'd probably save time and you wouldn't have to drill a hole in your brake backing plate.
