speaker distorting

speaker distorting
Just yesterday the left door speaker (stock Bose) was sounding normal, today, distorting badly! Right speaker sounds fine. After taking the grill off the speaker it appears that the speaker can be replaced without taking the door panel off?

Yep, but you got to put it back on. Best way to check the speaker is swap the right and left speakers. 
if you were local, I've got one you could try. Maybe someone close to you has one.

Speaker Grille Replacement
Removal Procedure
Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door .
Straighten the speaker grille tabs.
Remove the grille (3) from the trim panel.
Installation Procedure
Insert the speaker grille tabs into the door trim panel slots.
Bend the speaker tabs to lock the grille (3) in place.
Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door .

Thanks for the tips! I have a tech here in Houston that works on my car. The panel has to come off anyway to repair the window mechanism. Maybe he can check the speaker out while he's in there!
