Default DIY Help: Header/X-pipe Install

Hey guys. I will be installing a set of Dynatech 1/34" LT's along with a catless xpipe in the very near future. As always I will be doing it myself.

I will have a lift available for me to use but I was wondering if anyone could offer advice/tips/tricks on getting the job done. How much time will I need to complete the job? etc etc.

Thanks!

tho it says one side goes in from the bottom, they both go in from the top. Maryland Speed put me through to KOOKS tech support for a few tips. Thanks M/S

i did it in my garage with ramps, stands and a floor jack.

time- about 3 hours to remove everything, do a little cleaning up under the hood

then about 3-4 hours to install everything (vram intake included in this time) with a little help from my wife at times.

be patient.

i had to remove the motor mount nuts and lift the engine about 2 inches to do both sides, for the drivers side, i had to remove the oil filter to get the header to pass through so plan on changing oil and filter.

the alternator will need to be removed, the steering shaft will need to be disconnected (i removed it from the car all together, mark the knuckles with a marker so you put back exactly where it was so your steering wheel stays aligned).

i think those were the only quirks about the DIY.

It really depends on the brand of headers. Some will fit really well (ARH), and some will be a PITA to get in (kooks). It took me an hour to get the stock manifolds and h-pipe off, and about 2 hours to get the new headers and midpipe in.

Be prepared to possibly have to remove some coil packs, alternator, valve covers. All depends on the headers.
