Default ls1 engine temp

my 02 vette runs around 210(interstate driving) -230 (degrees at idle in busy traffic), live in west texas and in charlotte NC (school) and both places get pretty hot during the summer. is it a wise idea to change the thermostat? or is that running temp ok? nothing done to the engine except bolt-ons.

Your temperatures are within the normal operating range for LS engines. A lower temperature thermostat will only allow the engine to run cooler if the ambient temperature is relatively low. In high heat conditions or under heavy load the only way to get additional engine cooling is to increase your heat tranfer area (BIGGER RADIATOR).
When my car had a stock radiator it would run closer to 200 on the highway during the FL summers. 210 deg F on the highway lightly loaded could be an indicator that you have some debris that has collected in between the A/C condenser and radiator. As I previously stated though, 210 is within the engines normal operating temp.
Use the search funtion, there are numerous post on this subject with pictures that can show you how to clean this area out.
