Been having problems with my A4 in my 99 lately. The car has 56k on it and im pretty sure its been babied most of its life. Well last week I was just cruising around and was around the corner from a 45 min drive, pull up in the driveway and check engine light comes on. The code was a P0752 which is DTC P0752 1-2 Shift Solenoid (SS) Valve Performance - No Second Or Third Gear. Now I had just been driving the car and it ran flawless so I reset and kept driving. About a week or so later the car started acting up again. The wife went to start the car and let it warm up for a min or so and put into reverse and the car stalled, it did this many times. Then after a while the car would grind when trying to put into gear, she got pissed off reved it up a little bit in park and has run fine since. So when she came home I took the car out and had no problems driving normally but decided to test the p0752 code, I manually shifted the car under WOT and 1-2 is crisp and fast, 2-3 has a delay (maybe 1-2 seconds) so the trans is slipping ever so slightly. I have no idea as to why the car was acting up the other day as there was no code and cant seem to find someone with the same problem, but the 2-3 gear delay does bother me a little bit which leads me to believe that was the p0752. Hopefully someone can give me some ideas before the damn thing breaks for good.
