Hello all, I am new to the forum. I have a black 2000 mn6 car(stock except for flowmaster exhaust) and am getting my parts together for some major mods. I will install them all at once...NX kit, stage II cnc heads,Comp cam,RK sport long tubes and ls6 intake.....My question is...How much cam is too much??? The comp grind I bought is 569/578 227/234@50 on a 112lsa. I know very little about ls1's,but I do know that this would be a very mild cam in the old school 350's that I am used too. It seems a little radical compared to what most of you are using. And yes,I am an in your face power monger who wants a loping idle and doesn't mind using a few r's to get the car moving....I won't whine about the non stock idle and the extra attention needed to drive the car like some people do. I know that I will have to do programming....So what do you guys think?....Is it too much?
I don't know a lot about cams, but I'm running a comp cam:Intake 218 duration @ .050 and .527 lift, Exhaust 224 duration @ .050 and .534 lift
Ground on a 114 LSA in an A4. It's a mild cam, but I'm getting some good results at the track.
I say go for it man - it isnt really "that big" :D
Also, just make sure you go with a double spring setup with some better rods.. I know you probably are, but I just wanted to say it in case you were planning on skipping it..
That's a good grind for a heads and cam C5. Your still a little smaller than mine, but that's allright!!! By the way, welcome to the forum! :seeya
One answer ... NEVER ENOUGH.... I run a 612/612 242/242... and still wish I went a bit larger............................
Let me tell you, after hearing Toms' car in person I am trying very hard not to drop 10k in engine work. That thing sounds unreal. I know part of it is b/c of the cam. Which I think still is very driveable and it idles fine.
