Default '01 Z06 Clutch Problems

Hello,

I have a 2001 Z06 with a fully built 412. Well it has the Spec twin disk clutch set in it. Clutch should have about 2K-3K miles. Car was making roughly 980whp untill recently I have switched to a all motor setup making right at 550whp. Recently the clutch has been slipping once the car warmes up or driven maybe 5-15 miles.

It will slip leaving a stop light gently or roll on the throttle in 5th or 6th it will slip. How ever if you stomp on the gas in 1st-3rd it will burn the 345's and go like crazy. Does not seem to make sense to me. Slips under low load but hooks under high load.

I dont want to drop a few thousand on a clutch for that not to be the problem.

Thanks,
Tim

Sounds like there is oil/grease on the clutch disk. Pull the bottom flywheel cover and take a look. May or may not be able to see.

Sometimes people damage the oil seal in the back of the crank where the pilot bearing goes when the are taking the old one out. OR they will pack the new bearing with grease (a big NO NO) when they install it because it looks dry. Everything gets hot and grease gets slung on the disk face.

Jack up the car and pull down the inspection coverand see what's going on.

Did you check any of the things everyone said to check? If you can floor it and it not slip, then there is something on the disk.
