Default Question on Z06 exhaust......

I'm looking for an exhaust for my 2000 vert. I see the titanium Z06 exhausts for sale once in a while, and I was wondering, do people put them on for the better sound or what ? The increase in performance must be minimal at best I would think...

Also, if anyone has a used Corsa or other exhaust here in New England I'd be willing to talk to you on it....

Thanks,
Mark

Slight improvement in sound and 1/2 the weight.

exhaust systems are for sound only.. There is no brand that gives you any noticeable performance

the titanium set will flow better than the stock ones and give a slight, but noticable difference in exhaust sound. A lot of people like to do the bypass mod to the titanium mufflers, where they weld in a 1.5 inch peice of pipe that lets some exhaust air skip the mufflers. The weight savings is nice as well, and you can find them used for around 350 or 400 pretty easily.

What they said; plus one big advantage - THEY DON'T RESONATE.
So many of the aftermarket exhausts will rattle the car apart at highway speeds.
They are definitely more sporty than the stockers, especially if you have some mods like a cam and/or headers.

I installed them on my 98 MN6 coupe in hopes of making the coupe sound more loke my ZO6.

Well,,,,,,,the 98 Coupe sounded a little bit better but,,,,NO WHERE like a ZO6.

Boy they sure do look a hell of a LOT better, are a WHOLE lot lighter and if you ever do any performance mods,,,WOW! They sound a WHOLE LOT better. Heads and a cam wake them up without a doubt!

If my Stainless Works system ever vanished, I would replace it with a good set of TI ZO6 mufflers!

Exhaust sound is just a matter of personal preference.

In my stock '01, the Z06 TI's are exactly what I was looking for. They're quiet at cruising speeds, but they really wake up at W.O.T.

The tips look great, and the titanium inlet pipes and mufflers will last forever.

if you plan on getting the ti exhaust, i would suggest getting an x-pipe also because there is a good chance its going to make a jingling sound. ask me how i know :P. it has to do with the stock h-pipe in combination with the ti exhaust. it sounds so good though. its my favorite sounding exhaust for the vette. i have a bypass welded in mine to make it a tad louder.

Ya know,,,,,,,,,, when I purchased the system, I wasn’t happy giving up my four TI tips for TWO. Once the system was on the car and the sound of the exhaust thru the 3" system with 4" tips,,,,, it was worth it.

I also did something that I tell people that I would N E V E R do. Purchase a system without listening to it on someone’s car.

Justin at ZIP Products told me that the Stainless Works system had ZERO drone and sounded fantastic. He was 100% on the mark!

That is where the car is on the lift at ZIP Products.

Thanks Justin

They look better, are lighter and sound pretty much like the stock set up unless you have long tubes.

IMO, the difference you get from one of the aftermarket systems just isn't worth it. You're just getting sound, you might get some unwanted resonance but you don't pick up any power.

The stock C5 system flows well. If we were talking stock C4 system vs. aftermarket C4 system, that's an improvement in sound, looks and power. But the aftermarket C5 systems aren't going to flow significantly more than the stock system and that's why a lot of guys go with the Ti system. It's cheaper, lighter and gives you a lower, more aggressive sound.

Most guys pay about $400 or so for a set. The Ti will never rust and is super strong.

A set of long tube headers and a Ti system will really wake the sound up!

Default Z06's Worked for Me

After Heads/Cam/Headers w cats/4:11 work, Bassani exhaust were unliveable(resonance) though they were great on stock motor. Z06 mufflers have nice sound, NO RESONANCE and I can have a conversation at 75mph. They work great for me. I paid $450 ebay purchase.

Had Borla Stingers on my automatic C5. Sounded real good around town and WOT, but I got sick of the freeway drone...

Ti's on my 6spd supercharged C5 with longtube headers is what I have now.. MUCH better and I don't get unwanted attention from the police.

I dumped my loud exhaust for the Z06 titanium exhaust. I couldn't hear myself think. The Z06 exhaust is much quieter, flows good but sounds good when you get on it.
