Default cruise control drops out

2001 MN6 coupe, 48,000 miles, has hud
I had an issue with the brake control module, and I sent it out and had it fixed. I also had the supression mod done as well.
The active handling light, traction control and abs seem to work ok, no issues, but now the cruise just drops off.
happens maybe every few hours of driving with it on. When it happens, it drops off, I can engage it, after about 15 minutes, it drops off again, I can reengage it, then it will be good for hours. Sometimes it does it 2 or 3 times, then works great for hours.
No codes at this point.
any ideas?

The steering wheel position sensor may be giving you trouble. I can't recall the code, but it would sometimes appear on my DIC with a history flag. I think what is happening is that the computer reads your steering wheel position as being different than what other sensors are telling the system, so it activates active handling (mine is an 04) and drops out of cruise control. Mine was intermittent for about a year before it began engaging active handling and the abs. If you can disable the active handling you should be able to keep the cruise control engaged. There are some good posts on this, so search for the steering wheel position sensor.

If the DIC says "Cruise Disengaged" when it falls off line then it sounds like the system thinks the brake or clutch pedals are depressed--check the clearance of the switches

Dude, I had the EXACT same problem. For the life of me I couldn't figure out what it was and then another forum member told me that it's probably the brake switch. He said that over time your pedal will become a little loose and not hold the switch in. SO, one afternoon when the problem started I pulled back on the brake pedal with my foot and CHA CHING... It let me go back into cruise control. I did it time and time again to make sure that was the problem and it wasn't just me getting lucky. Sure enough after adjusting my brake switch out to where it's snug against the pedal again... no more problems. Try the simplest things first bro!
