Default having electric QTP cutouts problem

hi

i´m running new dual QTP 3" cutouts on my Vette running few months and it has been no problem, but then one time after i opened it, the light on the switch went off and the fuse wire was burnt a bit but not torn apart, but i installed new fuse, and the light came on..... but as soon as i tried to close the damn thing the light went off... so what can this be?

please let me know what you think
hope the motors are not destroyed on a new kit.....

thanks

Baezi

first guess would be direct short in the wiring to the motor(s) look for a spot where the wires may have rubbed on the frame or other ground spot. hope it's simple.

Sounds like a short to me also,I would look around the hot exhaust pipes first. Disconnect the cut out motors one at a time to see which may be shorted,if the short remains after both are disconnected then you know the short is in the wiring.

Fuses are used to protect the wiring not the motors. If you used the cig lighter ciruit I would replace it with the stock amperage fuse. Not sure but probably a 10 amp?

Yes,a 1 amp fuse would be to small for the amps these motors will require.
