Hmmm Yeah you could be right, I should know better then relying on my memory?

I'm probably thinking of the Twilight Sentinel thingy... I've scanned that Thread and it appears to mostly be a cold colder joint issue right?

Yes a solder joint with known failure problems on the cb sensor.

My HUD seems to get dimmer every week even at the highest setting. In the sunlight it's almost gone. Does this mean my hud is on the way out?

From the service manual.

Head Up Display (HUD) Description and Operation
The head-up display (HUD) is a secondary display system that optically projects critical vehicle information off of the windshield. The head-up display (HUD) system has an electric tilt adjust that is controlled by the HUD up/down switch. Moving this switch directs the motor to move the HUD image up or down on the windshield. The HUD is also equipped with automatic dimming which gives the HUD the ability to sense outside light conditions, via a photo-cell and automatically adjusts the brightness levels. The HUD image brightness can be manually adjusted by moving the HUD dim switch. There is an ambient light sensor which allows the HUD image display to adapt to the brightness levels of the environment. During the start up of the vehicle all segments of the head-up display illuminate for 3 seconds.

It means the internal light sensor in the hud itself is having issues. You would have to take the dash cover off, pull out the hud and take it apart to gain access to the sensor. Resoldering it might work or you might have to find something as a replacement, but there's no part numbers on this sensor....so no idea. I replaced the entire HUD on mine when this happened and they were only $196 at the time. No clue if they are even available now or not. Try an electronics store and see if you can obtain a sensor(s), till one actually works.
